They were extremely helpful, professional, and flexible with me over the year we spent planning my wedding. I cannot thank them enough for how they accommodated changes to our plans while we tried to figure out how to best adjust due to COVID-19.

Delorian and Megan are childhood friends turned business partners. Both share a passion for event planning & design and have been planning events for over a decade. They're passionate about what they do because they love LOVE! Yes, it’s cliche'— but it's gratifying to watch a couple say "I Do" and experience their first dance exactly the way they envisioned it, but better. It's gratifying to witness the love from doting family and friends to a parent-to-be as they prepare to celebrate a new life. Sharing in these moments makes every task worthwhile.

Delorian

Delorian knew years ago she was a natural for planning events. When she would assist her mother and aunt with weddings, she would always give her input and knew she would someday be doing the same thing. Going through UNC Charlotte's Meeting and Event Planning Program and being a nurse practitioner causes her to have a close eye for details. She feels each event is unique and special, leaving memories for a lifetime. When Delorian is not planning your classic event, she enjoys traveling and hanging out with family.

She provides a methodical approach to planning your event so that your event is one of a kind and classic. When she’s not planning and designing your perfect event, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband diving into some awesome local food spot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a wedding planner, a wedding coordinator and a wedding designer?

A wedding planner is your new best friend! This is the most involved professional that you can hire for assisting with your wedding planning. A planner will guide you through every step of the planning process which typically includes helping you manage your budget. Most couples hire a planner soon after engagement, and full planning can take approximately one year from engagement.

Some planners also provide design or styling services, helping with the creative specifics of your wedding day while others opt to leave those details to a wedding designer—which means you'll need to hire two professionals for your dream wedding. At FCE, as part of our full service wedding planning, we also curate your theme and design. So, there’s no need to hire an additional professional.

A wedding coordinator is hired for the management of your wedding day. A coordinator will usually step in about 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding day to confirm your vendor contracts and create your wedding timeline. A wedding coordinator ensures that everything runs smoothly on your wedding day. Couples typically hire a coordinator 6-8 months prior to the wedding.

A wedding designer’s role is all about the aesthetics. Designers typically focus on design elements such as lighting; florals; furniture; linens; floor plans and sometimes, attire. A wedding designer will oversee your budget and vendors pertaining to décor.

Why should I hire a wedding planner?

Whether you're expecting 50 or 250 guests, planning a wedding requires a lot more time and energy than some expect and is more than picking out pretty flowers or tabletop décor. A planner essentially juggles the roles of designer, legal counsel, budget manager, coordinator and so much more—all while helping you pull together your wedding. They can be tapped to take care of everything on your to-do list, from choosing aesthetic details to going over vendor contracts and dealing with day-of emergencies. Planners are clued into everything there is to know about throwing a wedding including the latest trends, so you'll be in good hands whether your issue is bouquets or overbearing in-laws. Plus, they're connected with top venues and pros in your area, ensuring you have the best team of experts to pull off your celebration. Many vendors actually prefer to work with a planner as they feel that planners help streamline the process and keep things more stress free. An experienced planner is one of the key investments you can make when bringing your wedding day to life.

At FCE, we offer our clients an experience where we are extremely "hands on" and handle all event details for our clients to create a seamless,  stress free experience. Often times, clients approach us not knowing where to begin.  Our process of outlining step-by-step what our clients can expect during the planning processes eases the overwhelming feelings our clients may have when the process of planning an event starts.

How much should I spend on my wedding?

In 2020, the average wedding cost was $19,000. This was about $10,000 less than the 2019 average and was mainly due to to the increase of smaller-than- normal celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How much you spend on your wedding varies greatly depending on the location, number of guests, décor & personalized details, catering, etc. If you are planning a large wedding (150+ guests), you can expect to spend more. We suggest planning to spend around 10% of your budget on your wedding planning services. Great weddings can be executed with any budget, however, the couple should set a budget to commensurate with their guest count, design preferences, time of year, and location. So, this means identifying a realistic number that aligns with your expectations and planning priorities.

How do we begin the process and what should I expect?

Whether you’re planning an event or wedding, our process begins by scheduling a consultation. Please complete our Inquiry Form, and we’ll contact you to schedule a consultation where we’ll review our services, get to know you, and discuss the vision for your event/wedding. Following the consultation, if you feel that we’re a great fit, we’ll tailor our offerings to your needs and provide a proposal. Upon acceptance of the proposal and signing of the contract, we’ll start planning your dream event. Our first step is to typically create a planning checklist that will help guide you through every step of the planning process and give you an idea of what to expect along the way.
